In-Season Training

CrossFit is a strength and conditioning style that has combined all the other styles and systems of training: running, rowing, power lifting, Olympic lifting, kettle bells, plyometrics, aerobic and anaerobic conditioning and other methods of training that are result-oriented.  At the SSM Training Center, we use this CrossFit methodology as the basis of our Strength and Conditioning program.  This program is designed to help our athletes maintain their fitness during the season to ensure they are getting the best results where it counts the most – on the ice!

At SSM there are three aspects to our in season workouts:

  1. Strength Training – Power lifting and Olympic lifting is used to maintain our athletes’ strength during the season.
Our strength training focuses on proper technique not only to ensure the athletes safety but to ensure the proper use of core/hips that will lead to eventual gains.
  2. Conditioning – Our conditioning portion of the workout is CrossFit training.  The definition of CrossFit is “Constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity.”  We feel that CrossFit training is exactly what our athletes need to preform their best.  This type of training will have our athletes lift, jump, push, pull, throw, swing (and perform a variety of other movements) their way to an elite level of fitness. The result of our training program will have our athletes ready to compete and perform at an elite level.  No matter what the on ice competition has to offer our athletes will be ready for it.
  3. Supplemental Training. – This training is available to an athlete who needs to improve certain areas of his/her fitness and/or needs additional sport specific training such as strength, agility/footwork, and conditioning.   **Please visit the Supplemental Training Links**

At the SSM Training Center we help you improve your agility, your strength, and your athleticism. We train you to work hard as an elite level athlete – so you can be successful and ready for competition.
